About Thulisa Naturals
Woman-owned self-care business creating plant-based bath and body products
Hi, I’m Anusha
From a small town on the east coast of South Africa, I grew up surrounded by majestic mountains and lush landscapes. I became so aware of the power of nature to evoke a sense of peace and calm in our bodies and minds and learned to find comfort and resilience in the way nature speaks to us through our sight, touch, smell and taste.
Far removed from my native landscape, I wanted to bring those feelings to you, through Thulisa Naturals.
Our mantra
Natural ingredients, everyday rituals
All our products have been meticulously crafted with natural ingredients to nourish your skin, to support you in creating your own meaningful rituals, and to prioritize your physical and mental wellbeing.
Rituals you can easily incorporate into your everyday life and routines. A ritual where you can care for yourself as much as you do those around you, and move forward feeling calm, replenished, and able to carry that sense of balance and restoration in everything else you do, too.
what our name means
Thulisa (too-lee-sa)
Means 'Bringer of peace' in isiZulu, a South African language
My Story
Before Thulisa, I spent fifteen years as an occupational therapist working in sensory integration and neurological rehabilitation. My whole career came down to one question: how do you help an overwhelmed nervous system feel safe again? So often the answer lived in the senses — a scent, a warmth, a texture, the same small ritual repeated until the body learns to trust it.
Then I became a mom, and I ran headfirst into the hard postpartum months — the exhaustion, the anxiety, the feeling of losing myself. I knew, professionally, exactly what a dysregulated nervous system needed. I just had almost no time to give any of it to myself.
My daily shower became the one place I could. It turned into my sanctuary — a few quiet minutes to physically and emotionally reset before facing the next day. I wanted to make that time work harder without making it any longer.
That's when I started digging into essential oils, and everything I understood as an OT clicked into place. I became a little obsessed — with their individual properties, with the way a blend could ground you or lift you. I started formulating my own, and they didn't just change how my skin felt. They changed how I felt. Steadier. More like myself.
And I had a feeling I wasn't the only one who needed this.
And I had a feeling you needed that too. So I founded Thulisa Naturals in 2017, to share not just the amazing, all-natural and safe products, but to support you in establishing your very own replenishing rituals that you can infuse into your every day routine.
To be your own Thulisa and bring peace to your own life.
#1 what we believe
Self care is a must
Self-care isn't indulgence — it's maintenance for a nervous system that's asked to do a lot. We make bath and body products that help you build small, restorative rituals into the life you already have: a few honest minutes of peace and balance, for women who expect the best from their days and want to feel their best living them.
#2 what we believe
In being a brand you can trust
Thulisa was founded by an occupational therapist. For fifteen years I worked in sensory integration and neurological rehabilitation, helping overwhelmed nervous systems find their way back to calm through the senses — and that training shapes every blend we make. Woman-owned, Leaping Bunny certified, and handcrafted in small batches in Virginia: the credentials matter, but what matters most is that everything here is made by someone who genuinely understands why a sensory ritual works.
#3 what we believe
Natural is (and always will be) in
Clean, intentional, and held to a high standard. Our products are crafted with essential oils and skin-loving ingredients we choose deliberately — for how they perform and how they feel on your skin. No fillers, nothing you can't pronounce. Go ahead, read a label — we're proud of ours.
#4 what we believe
Details matter
Especially the little ones. Everything is handcrafted in small batches, and every ingredient has to earn its place against a rigorous checklist: high-quality, thoughtfully sourced, good for your skin, cruelty-free, and gentle enough for different skin types. Small batches are how we keep our hands on that standard — every single time
#5 what we believe
In paying it forward
We’re not only committed to inspiring a happier and healthier you – but a happier and healthier tomorrow, too.
That’s why we’re proud to partner with non-profit South African organization Intsikelelo and donate a portion of all sales to provide meals to food insecure children.
